![]() Not noticed any significant deterioration in performance. Maximum processor state 98% (maybe any number Minimum processor state 80% (just an arbitrary guess).I changed the power profile in my win settings to the numbers below and the buzz/coil whine/whatever stopped and the machine went back to a nice quiet low hum: I think it is a fan or maybe it's some kind of coil whine that happens when the turbo boost is set on (default is on in BIOS) and you set the power settings in windows to highest performance and the processor power management maximum to 100%. Thanks for your reply! I have an Inspiron 3671 desktop with win 10 and intel core I7 3.0GHz cpu, 256GB SSD. I thought I posted a reply but its not ying again Unless I bust open my PC, which I typically would avoid, I won't for certain know why the intermittent buzzing happens at 100% when in this high performance profile. Anyway, this is likely a way to negate the boost inside windows which is less tricky for someone who wants to stay away from the BIOS settings. I'm not sure I see any deterioration in speed with those settings and I have the BIOS set with turbo boost on as it was. If I jack up that max processor state back to 100%, the noise returns. Maximum processor state: 90% (arbitrarily selected % less than 100% just to lower processor use)īingo - noise stopped and now just the low hum you should expect with a SSD PC. ![]()
