After doing a bunch of profiling, I noticed that there were some significant stalls on the render thread and our tree impostor system was most likely the cause of the issue, even though the population had only been tweaked very slightly recently.The higher your base framerate was, the more severe these dips would appear to be. Whilst attempting to confirm this, we noticed that the framerate would predictably dip significantly for no apparent reason, then recover. On top of that, the game has also seen some quality of life improvements, and an official soundtrack being released. There's also been smaller thematic updates which have rolled out for things like Christmas, Halloween, and Lunar New Year. Some of the patches have brought significant changes to the overall game, with February's update adding an Arctic environment to Rust. That does suggest that players will be able to ride along the rails at some point, just probably not for the April update.įacepunch has been working hard these last few years to keep its IP growing, teaming up with Double Eleven for the PS4 and Xbox One versions. Once this update goes live, the railway system will become part of the landscape, but will have "no official gameplay element" this time round.
